Dearest Jennie,

Ever so many thanks for your letter+ for the flask just received. It is exactly the same as my own old one only larger, which will be a big advantage to me. Please thank Alice for going to so much trouble.

I am feeling rather, “a poor thing” at the present moment after a week of constant fighting. I got rather badly knocked about by a shell, and through by a miracle I escaped without a scratch. I was a good deal shaken. I am hoping to get a rest very shortly so you need not be uneasy. All news going to the Father In haste with love
